The nursing department delivers nursing care to all patients admitted to the centre. They are particularly involved in the management of wounds especially for clients referred with pressure sores following spinal cord injury.

Working in liaison with other departments they deliver information talks on Hygiene and Nutrition on the outreach programme and to mothers in the early childhood intervention programme. They also participate in workshops for Community Rehabilitation Volunteers and facilitate at other staff workshops especially for our domestic cleaners and housemothers.

This is very important in order to maintain high standards of hygiene in the centre.

The nurse also liaises with the District Health Office and Monze Mission Hospital in the procurement of medication and ensure that the centre is included in all the ‘Health Weeks’ carried on in the district. The nursing department also deals with various complaints e.g. malaria, diarrhea, cough, toothache and oth ailments.

Though we are not a testing centre for HIV/AIDS the nurse will refer clients to Monze Mission Hospital for testing and counseling when necessary
